Sony-Ericsson w890i Pros and Cons

Incredible range of internet functionability.

Thin, stylish design.

Free 2GB card.

Keypad quite small.

Audio quality good, yet volume is limited due to small size.

Expensive for what it offers.

Sony-Ericsson w890i User Guide:

There are floods of people complaining how much of a ripoff this is for its features, but people forget you’re also paying for the tiny build and stylish design. I’d say you’re also paying for the audio quality, since the speakers, handsfree and headset is superb. The sony-ericsson w890i camera at 3.15mp isn’t the best, but it’s certainly better than the majority of phone’s which feature 1.3 or a 2MP camera.

It’s not exactly a smartphone, but then again it’s not exactly a budget text phone either. The Sony-ericsson w890i battery has great standby and talk life in my experience (as well as other people’s experiences I’ve read in reviews). It’s for those after a stylish, functionable phone who aren’t too stressed about owning everything a smartphone does (i.e wifi and gps), yet wants more than a nokia 6300 for instance.

Some outstanding things on this fone:

  1. updates consistent and working
  2. sound quality (not as good on speaker-phone however)
  3. screen size

Some worse things are:

  1. speed while navigating
  2. camera quality for a 3.15

I ended up taking it back to the shop really quickly, basically because I could’ve bought another phone a few hundred dollars cheaper with the same, or even more functions.

No wonder the prices for the w890i keep falling. One of the most incredibly over-rated phones of the century:

  • Altho it’s nice 2gb is packaged in the bundle, it’s the maximum it can take
  • Camera hardly got features for da price.
  • For its price AND being an mp3 walkman based phone, audio is dissapointing.
