I wouldn’t recommend getting this phone. I have one and it really is in a bad shape. It’s only even a few months old.
The keypads crack. Okay, I can take it. At least it feels the same and it still works.
Then, the softkeys on the left hand side starting to fail 1 after another. Went to the shop and the it was a cable flexing problem.
Now thanks to the lousy authorized service centre. They screwed up my volume controls and the memory card flap is broken.
My first badddd experience with Sony-Ericsson. I had been a fanboy of SE for suck a long time now and I’m dissapointed that the quality of the phone leaves alot to be desired.
PRO:
-walkman (main feature)
-2.0MP camera (still pretty good considering it’s a W phone)
-sound quality is good (altho if u turn it up to volume 8, it starts to fuzz a bit)
-shake control (hold down the W symbol and shake….it’ll shuffle your songs so if u don’t want that, you could always go to the next song by pressing and holding down the volume symbols on the side of the phone)
-M2 expansion (up to 8GB…according to rogers)
-very nice phone in general, not bulky.CON:
-no flash on camera (get a K-series phone if you’re keen on good quality pictures)
-battery life (i drained the batts in less than 12 hrs in my first day of using it. after turning down the screen brightness down to 50%, i managed to charge the phone once every other day…and i don’t call people often)i haven’t had any issues with the keypads cracking…yet. it’s been 3 weeks or so. i usually use fingerpads to touch the keypads, not my nails. if you like to text a lot, i suggest you use your fingerpads more than your nails. i text quite fast but with this phone, it’s best not to text like a maniac at first, until you get used to the keypad feel.
Why am i still amazed by this phone? It is impressive, beautifully desigined and packed with features that are absolutely cool!
I read somewhere that there was a reason why the buttons crack. And I must say that I am glad that after 6 months of use, excessive use, my grey w580 is still going strong. The key pad feels rubbery and not hard.
Features that still astound me are the camera, quailty is better than most camera phones in the same range. MP3 player is gold and video ringtones are fun.Gaming always keeps bordom at bay and the step counter is great!
The battery cover is stable but anoying to remove, however, practice makes perfect and Ive just about got it down pact.
My only negative is the battery life. The battery life is dismal but then again, I am constantly using my phone… Long phone calls, MP3 player always in use and texting enough texts to use up my unlimited text messaging. One other thing, thats a negative. My service provider is practally back water, ancient technology that wont allow me to access its incredible features.
Over all this is the best phone I have used to date….
