This phone is an excellent purchase. The Blackberry function negates the need for wifi or G3. The functionality and usability of the phone, particularly the qwerty keyboard only becomes evident with ownership. The GPS is usable and there are other great functions like messenger and voice notes (allows you to send a voice message via mms) but none comapre to the superb email/calender abilities. Being able to synchronize your calender with an office PC remotely is very valuable especially if you have an assistant.
This is not just a business phone but suitable for anyone who is relying on email daily. Blackberry have resisted camera functions as it concentrates on the US market where business phones often come camera-less for security reasons.
I’ve recently convinced a colleague to get it. It has been fun watching his excitement over how easy it is to use and how capable it is. Purchase this phone, you’ll love it.
This new BlackBerry is better.
I like:
The size
The GPS
The Camera
I don’t like:
The battery life
Vodafone sold this contract to me informing me that the GPS was Europe wide, however It’s not - the pre-bundled GPS only covers the UK and Ireland.
Despite this - it’s BRILLIANT. No need to buy the GPS it’s almost worth it just for this feature.
My Blackberry Curve 8310 - the most beautiful blackberry ever. Hopefully someday it will also have 3G, WLAN, HSCSD, Infrared, and dual camera for video calls. When that day comes: there will be no more competition.
I will admit I am well-addicted. I just upgraded my last blackberry to this model. It should be coming tomorrow, cant wait. Anyway, in response to the question about having one and being a student. I would say go for it. I had it one college. It was convenient. I could type mini notes, send emails, I basically put the syllabus to every class in it so that I know what was due when.
